Apoorv Gupta is a 17-year-old student from Mumbai. When he was in 10th Grade, prompted by his love for practical science, he volunteered to teach rural children how to make simple circuits using his own electronics kit. Seeing how the exposure to hands-on science experiments and electronics sparked their curiosity and creativity, he wanted to bring the same experience to many more students from rural areas who do not have such an opportunity.
He founded Udaan ("take flight") with the aim of empowering rural youth with practical science and electronics education, fostering innovation and future vocation. Through conducting workshops for children with self-designed Udaan DIY kits and training mentors, Udaan has evolved into a powerful skill-building vocational educational tool for young rural students to get true exposure to practical electronics.
Today, Udaan is an ever-growing community of young creators and innovators.

Udaan started small: a few students, a breadboard, and the feeling that science gets interesting only when you stop reading and start making. It has grown into a shared library of kits, videos, experiments, and conversations.
We don't run programs for students. We build them with students. So the kits get better, the questions get harder, and the people teaching next year were the people learning this one.
